Creativity Is The Future Of Human Work #13

SHOW NOTES

In today’s episode we talk about The Future of Work, Creativity as the new #1 skill and how artists can open up their careers to these opportunities today.

The world keeps changing - according to the Institute for the Future, Eighty-five percent of the jobs that today’s students will do in 2030, don’t exist yet. And, as we know, plenty of new careers have already emerged: social media manager, app developer, cloud computing engineer, blogging, vlogging, online teaching and even the very thing we’re doing right now – podcasting. Plus, adding to all the new opportunities and challenges of living in a globally connected world, automation is coming to the workplace too, destroying and creating millions of jobs. And it’s clear that all these huge changes create an important question about the role of art on education. How can we educate children and adults in a way that prepares them for a workplace that is constantly changing?

According to an interesting article at the World Economic Forum, the answer is surprisingly touching: it all starts with soft skills and creativity.

What we’re talking about…

  • Changes in the workplace in an era of digitalisation and robotization.

  • Why Creativity is a very important skill today and in the future.

  • The implications of these changes to our careers as artists.

  • The great opportunities that lie ahead to artists and cultural entrepreneurs.
